About PDSN

What is Personality Disorder?

Personality disorders are a class of personality types and enduring behaviors associated with significant distress or disability, which appear to deviate from social expectations particularly in relating to others.

I am 35 year’s old and live in sunny Essex, I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder in 2009 and have had trouble’s throughout the years. I have travelled a lot and like going on holidays in the sun, mainly just to rest and do nothing. I have been fortunate enough to have a rather crazy life and have met many people along the way although these days I prefer the quiet life ;)

I was lucky enough to get support from my mental health team and was treated by the amazing Impart team under NELFT.

I have suffered a lot of trauma which in turn has left me with this illness and the diagnosis of BPD. I have had some really hard times and life has been really scary and dangerous in the past. I am however in recovery at the moment and I am making so much progress in my daily life. I do a lot of voluntary work and have been helping other’s over the last couple of years which has also helped me very much.

I also suffer with depression and have done for most of my life so I have to find ways to cope and deal with the things that come along my way. The problem is there is not enough awareness about these illness’ and sometimes a bit too much stigma attached to it. I am doing the work I do to try to change these ideas and hopefully in time people’s opinion will also change. :)

Just over a year ago I also set up a fan page on Facebook  helping others that suffer with mental health issues and Personality Disorder. A voluntary project by PDSN

  1. Hi just found your blog from the link on Personality Disorder Support Network on Facebook, I also have BPD which I blog about (amongst other things) on my site hhtp://showard76.wordpress.com :)

  2. Thanks for joining and thanks for the comment, will have a look :)

  3. You’re doing great things. Don’t believe any one who says otherwise.

Its good to read the story of some one in a similar situation, if only to slap me and make me remember there’s always some poor Sausage with bigger problems.

Thinking of you and wishing good things for you. -_-

    1. I am trying my best and thank you :)

  4. Glad I found your link on Facebook. I also have BPD, Bipolar, PTSD, Fibromyalgia, Depression, anxiety and panic disorders. I tried to get them all, but there wasn’t enough room in my brain for anymore.. :-)
I applaud you for opening up your heart and talking about your problem. I had a website for about 7 years that dealt with all of my problems, tried to help others, but it just beacme too much for me to handle. I would get so many letters from others, and it came to the point, that my depression got worse. Had to give it up.
    Great job. Keep it up.

    1. Oh dear sorry to hear all of that… Good to hear you had a site but sad what happened :(

Thank you, wish you all the best :)

    2. Sorry to hear it all got too much, Glenda. We do have to look after our own health first. I’d often tell patients I couldn’t have done my job when in my 20s – I was too much of a mess myself!
I hope you’re soon into recovery.

      1. Yes I hear you, I am ok at the moment… Oh and thanks for the re-blog :D

  5. Hi – this is great. I’m having problems finding your facebook page.
I’ve reblogged your BPD awareness month –
I’m a retired mental health nurse and trained in DBT – facilitating emotional coping skills groups. I’ve blogged a bit about this and plan to do more. I already have some followers with a diagnosis of BPD and hope for more.

    1. ok – I’ve found it! :)

    2. Thank you for your kind comments, glad to see you are also doing something similar :) The page can be found here:
